Hot water on demand, no tank required.
The Sunamp Thermino swaps a tank of stored water for a block of phase-change material. Here's what that means, how the charge-and-release cycle actually works, and why it lasts so much longer than what came before.

The core idea
Store heat in a material that holds far more energy than water.
A traditional hot water cylinder is, fundamentally, a big insulated kettle. To get more hot water, you need more litres, and a bigger tank. Sunamp throws that constraint out entirely by storing heat inside a phase-change material (PCM) instead. The same amount of energy fits into roughly a quarter of the space.
The cycle
Charge → store → release.
Three simple stages on repeat, and most homes never notice they're happening.
Charge
Energy in
Electricity heats the phase-change material from solid to liquid, like ice becoming water, locking in a huge amount of energy with very little volume.
Store
Held until you need it
The PCM holds that energy almost indefinitely. Wrapped in heavy insulation, standing loss is a tiny fraction of a hot water cylinder.
Release
Hot water on demand
When a tap opens, mains-cold water passes through a heat exchanger inside the battery, coming out the other side instantly hot, at full mains pressure.

Why this beats a tank
Four things water in a cylinder simply can't do.
- Phase-change material stores about 4× more energy per litre than water.
- No tank of stagnant water means no Legionella risk, no anode rod, no drain-down.
- Standing heat loss is a fraction of a cylinder's, and your bills reflect it.
- Mains-pressure flow at every tap, every time, with no ‘running out’.
Built to outlast everything around it
Designed for a 50-year working life.
The PCM doesn't degrade with use. Combined with no moving parts and heavy insulation, it's the rare piece of kit that genuinely outlasts the house it's fitted in.
Designed for 50+ years
The phase-change cells are inherently stable, with no moving parts to wear, no rust to manage, no consumables to replace.
Heavy-grade insulation
Vacuum and high-density insulation keep standing heat loss to a near-negligible level, even between long off-peak gaps.
Service-free by design
No anode rod to swap, no drain-down annually, no service interval. Charge it, use it, leave it alone.
Pressure & temperature safe
The water you draw never sits inside a vessel under pressure, making the system inherently safer than a stored-hot-water cylinder.
